Hiatus

I meant to update everyone last week..

I had knee surgery early last week, so we’re putting the show on hold for a couple of weeks.

Please check the site for updates, and sign up for our mailing list on the right, and we’ll let you know as soon as we’re back.

Since we’re now broadcasting independently, we may change the time of our live broadcasts, or even do more live shows during the week. Stay tuned for updates!

We’re back! LIVE 9/17!

I just wanted to write a quick post letting everyone know that we will be doing a show THIS thursday, 9/17, at our usual time - 5-7PM.

I’m having knee surgery next week, so we were going to put the show on hold until I’ve recovered from that - but after the 9/12 march, we have too much to talk about.

I’ll be posting a write-up of the march shortly, I just wanted to get this up as soon as possible, since I told everyone I met at the march that we wouldn’t be back on for another month.

Thank you - and please tune in!

No shows today and next week

Bad news: Brian and I are both too busy today to do the show, and we’ll be in Mexico next week, 6/11, umm.. investigating the, umm, swine flu.

Good news: We’ll be back on the 18th.

Better news: I just posted our 5/14 and 5/21 shows, so if you missed them, give ‘em a listen, they’re great.  Last week’s show is still at the studio, so you guys will unfortunately have to wait until we get back for that one.

See ya in two weeks!

Thank you for your support!!

Today we saw a 3,500% increase in traffic to the site!  This is in part due to being linked on another website, facebook, and people telling their friends about our show.  We’ve had hits from 17 states, Canada, and Australia.

We greatly appreciate all of your support!  Please tell your friends about our show, and feel free to call in and let us know you’re listening.  You can also always e-mail us, or comment right here on the site.  We’re here for you guys - to talk about our logical, politically unbiased views, and to tell you about what’s going on in the world, and in this country.  If you’d like to see us do something different, or would like us to discuss a particular topic, please e-mail me, comment on the site, or call in during the show.

Again, thank you for your support - and keep on listening!

We’re now creating a show post before each show.

We’re going to start creating a post for each show before the show.  We’ll post whatever material we want you guys to check out (videos, etc.) in each show post, and when we’re live, you guys can comment on the show right here on the show’s post.  When we’re done, we’ll attach the recording to the show’s post so that the comments, material, and recorded show are all in one place.   That way if you miss the show, you can check out the recording, material, and continue the discussion!

Good evening, America!

Hello everyone!

I’ve been tossing around ideas all week about what I would write in my first post here.  It’s now a little after 9pm, later than I had wanted to launch this site, and I’m still not sure about what to write.  My problem is not that I don’t have enough to say, it’s the very opposite - I have too much that I would like to tell our listeners, and now readers.  The fact that I just spent the last hour watching our President do what he does best - deliver a logical sounding speech and Q&A session with very minimal substance - has certainly not helped this matter.  So, what shall I talk about?  I’ve decided to keep this somewhat short, and introduce our sweet new site, as well as our show, for those of you who haven’t heard us.

Sheepdog Radio is a radio show, currently broadcast on WNYT Radio, NYIT’s internet-only college radio station, on Thursdays, between 5 and 7pm.  It is hosted by myself, Jimmy Ryan, and my longtime best friend and co-host of over three years, Brian Alterman.  Our previous weekly radio show had no real theme, and we’d basically discuss whatever was important to us at the time.  During the presidential primaries, our political discussions began to grow.  This semester, Brian came to me with the idea of doing a strictly political show, and calling it Sheepdog Radio, after the story of sheep, wolves, and sheepdogs, popularized by LTC Grossman.  Having a strong desire to have my views on government and the disasterous path that this country is following heard, I jumped on board.

And here we are.  We’re doing our fifth show tomorrow, and we feel that we’ve almost nailed a solid format that will reach beyond classic right-wing talk radio.  I recently attended the NYC Tax Day Tea Party, and was amazed to find out that the turnout was not only fantastic in NYC, but across the nation.  12,500 people gathered in City Hall park, and somewhere between 700,000 and 1,000,000 people across the nation, to protest fiscal irresponsibilty, and a rapidly growing government.

I was surrounded by over twelve thousand people.  People who were most likely first-time protestors, I know I was.  People who could no longer sit at home and watch the country that our forefathers fought to create be guided down such an ominous path.  People who were desperate.  And I realized that our radio show could be so much more than a couple of college guys talking about politics.  We are now committed to protecting you from those who do not believe in the framework that our forefathers so brilliantly constructed, and who are working, as I write this, to redefine America and everything that it has always stood for.  No longer will you be oppressed because of your seemingly unpopular political views, and no longer will the liberal media have a monopoly on the flow of information and news.

On Sheepdog Radio, your views and opinions will never be brushed off.  You will never be politically pigeonholed because of your age, your sexual orientation, the color of your skin, or for any other reason.

We are not politicians.  We are not lawyers.  We are not historians.  We are two average American college students, with not-so-average political views, who have decided that we can no longer sit in silence.   Sheepdog Radio is a concept, a movement, oh, and a radio show.

Don’t forget to tune in on Thursdays, 5-7pm, on www.WNYTradio.com.  We’ll be posting our shows right here on the site (you can already hear our first four), and check out our podcast (iTunes users, click iTunes towards the top of the page) if you never want to miss a show!
