Sorry for taking so long to post this show! It’s finals week, and I’m graduating on Sunday, so I’ve been insanely busy. I’ll try to edit this when I have time and talk more about the show, but we had a guest in the second half, and it was a great show.
The effects of that DHS report on “right-wing extremism” are just now being realized. Check out this story of a driver in Louisiana being pulled over and detained for having a “Don’t Tread on Me” bumper sticker. I’m sure that there will be many, many more stories just like this one. Stay tuned. If I’m not detained for posting this.
Remember when the Census Bureau was placed under the direct control of the White House, and we all assumed it was to give the President more “control” over districting?
Turns out that was the least of our problems. Census employees have been traversing the nation, tagging everyone’s front door with its GPS coordinates. President Obama has his rational sounding reasons for this, but the recurring theme in these past 109 days has been anything but rational. As usual, his execution of this massive Big Brother undertaking was underhanded and dangerously under-publicized by the mainstream media.
When they come to your home, don’t even think about telling them not to tag it - there may or may not be laws allowing the Census Bureau to do this, but it doesn’t matter to this administration. Just ask the Chrysler creditors. Or any of the bailed out banks. They may not answer you honestly, though, at fear of having ACORN parade bus tours past their homes - as if they were some sort of AIG executives, or something..

Sorry for the delay - my portable hard drive fried :-/ You might notice at the beginning of the show that I mention some technical difficulties, but there were none - I edited out some dead air caused by a clip refusing to play - but don’t worry, this show is chock-full of other technical issues!
Enjoy
I was about to go to sleep, when Brian sent me this article written by Bill Maher. It’s typical liberal drivel - one man’s ignorant perception of an entire slice of America’s views, sprinkled with smug sarcasm designed to belittle the views of those who do not side with him. I generally would pay no attention to someone so obviously uneducated (and uninterested) on the world around him, but it infuriated me so much, that I felt I had to make an immediate post to discuss a few “points” that he makes in this piece. You may want to read the original article first.
If conservatives don’t want to be seen as bitter people who cling to their guns and religion and anti-immigrant sentiments, they should stop being bitter and clinging to their guns, religion and anti-immigrant sentiments.
Believe it or not, Bill, most conservatives don’t cling to their guns, religion, and anti-immigrant sentiments. If you took a break from chaining yourself to rainforest trees, panic-buying Priuses before Toyota runs out again, sucking down Starbucks Lattes, killing babies, getting married to guys, and doling out welfare checks, and actually met a conservative, you’d see that most of us are not at all like that. I’m sorry, do you not do most or any of the things on that list? It sucks being pigeonholed because of your political views, doesn’t it. In any event, what’s wrong with guns and religion? Don’t the first and second amendments protect our right to both of those? And isn’t illegal immigration, well, illegal?
It’s been a week now, and I still don’t know what those “tea bag” protests were about.
Maybe if you’d stop googling “teabags” and started googling “tea parties”, you’d stop finding pictures of hairy ballsacks, and would get both a history lesson, and the answer to your week-long question.
The conservative base is absolutely apoplectic because, because … well, nobody knows. They’re mad as hell, and they’re not going to take it anymore. Even though they’re not quite sure what “it” is. But they know they’re fed up with “it,” and that “it” has got to stop.
Just because you’re too lazy and ignorant to find out what the conservative issues are, doesn’t mean that we don’t know what they are. (FYI, the big issue right now, as I’m sure you’ve already discovered after I cleared up your google woes, is fiscal irresponsibility).
Here are the big issues for normal people: the war, the economy, the environment, mending fences with our enemies and allies, and the rule of law.
Mending fences with our enemies? If being normal is cozying up to a nation that helped fund the September 11th attacks, killing 3,000 Americans - both liberals and conservatives - or a nation whose leader has proclaimed “Death to America!”, then I don’t want to be normal.
And here’s the list of Republican obsessions since President Obama took office: that his birth certificate is supposedly fake
The Constitution requires that the President be a natural born citizen of the United States, so assuming you didn’t already know that, I’m sure you can now see why President Obama’s birth certificate just might be somewhat important.
he uses a teleprompter too much
It’s not so much that he uses a teleprompter too much, but rather that he speaks on his own, directly to the American public, too little. (For obvious reasons.)
he bowed to a Saudi guy
Not just any bow, a subservient bow. You don’t think that’s just a little on the odd side, Bill?
Europeans like him
It’s not that Europeans like him, it’s that he seems overly concerned with his personal overseas popularity. Shouldn’t he be worrying about the economy, or the war(s), or swine flu, or making sure his cabinet members pay their taxes?
he gives inappropriate gifts
You spent plenty of time bashing President Bush for “embarrassing” America, so I’m sure you can see why we’d be upset when Prime Minister Brown gives President Obama a pen holder carved from an anti-slave ship, and Obama gives him some DVDs - which don’t play in Europe - in return. Or when he gives the Queen of England an iPod. Or when Hillary Clinton presents Russia with an “easy button” that’s supposed to say “reset”, but instead says “overcharge.” It’s not about the gifts, it’s about the embarrassment.
his wife shamelessly flaunts her upper arms
I couldn’t care less what his wife does with her arms. Although, I’d love to see her use them to slap you. That’s one YouTube video that I’d have permanently bookmarked.
and he shook hands with Hugo Chavez and slipped him the nuclear launch codes.
Seeing as how Hugo Chavez openly hates America, it’s somewhat peculiar and inappropriate for the President of the United States to make such an effort to be buddy-buddy with the guy. I can see why you’re not taking it seriously - liberal Hollywood elitists have been flocking to Chavez like moths to a flame for some time now. Maybe you have a shared interest, or hatred? hmm hmmmm?
The GOP base is convinced that Obama is going to raise their taxes, which he just lowered.
Bill, this is just math. Look at our deficit, then add the unspent portion of the non-stimulating stimulus package, the $3.4 trillion budget, current bailouts, future bailouts, and whatever else this drunken sailor of a government is going to waste our money on next. There simply aren’t enough taxpayers in the country to pay off this debt, and our President has completely broken his promise to match every dollar spent with a dollar cut, and our federal government is instead growing - rapidly. I know that liberals don’t deal in logic, Bill, so try to follow me on this one - but how are we going to pay for all of this? The government only has one method of income - and it’s - anyone? anyone? Taxes.
Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota recently said she fears that Obama will build “reeducation” camps to indoctrinate young people. But Obama hasn’t made any moves toward taking anyone’s guns, and with money as tight as it is, the last thing the president wants to do is run a camp where he has to shelter and feed a bunch of fat, angry white people.
With regard to taking anyone’s guns: Not allowing Americans to purchase guns is just as bad as taking them away. And all I have to say about these “camps,” is that they’re not white.
But it’s been almost 100 days, and your country is not coming back to you. She’s found somebody new. And it’s a black guy.
I find it amusing how the conservatives are racist, yet liberals are always the first to bring up race. We don’t care that Obama is black, as much as you’d like us to. What we do care about is his actual policy changes, you know, the stuff that really matters in government. And America will come back to us, because unlike liberals, we are not defeated so easily. Liberals like you, Bill Maher, would like to impose your defeatist attitude on us - we lost the election, oh well, bye America - but that’s not who we are. We are true Americans. We’ve continually fought for everything America stands for in the 233 years that this country has been alive, and you’ve simply reminded us that the fight is not over.
